Do you have a High Tech job with something that you can share with the class? For example a radar gun to calculate how fast a ball is thrown. A grocery store scanner hooked to a computer. Is there something you can come talk about or demonstrate?

We’re also wanting to get Lego Robotics in the classroom. We need help with money to buy the kits and expertise to get the teacher up and running.

Someone with Administrative Mac expertise that can help with questions.

School has started and things have been going pretty smoothly. We are getting new computers in the lab on September 18th. Thank you to the parents who voted in the Bond election a couple years ago - your vote helped us get this lab. It also purchased laptops for every teacher in AISD. I can say that this teacher certainly appreciated having it this summer. I found some great websites which I will share with your children.

What happened the first two weeks in the lab:

K - learned lab rules, learned how the mouse works, used to mouse to play some games on the internet. One games helps them learn how to move the mouse around the screen, one is pointing and clicking and working on sorting, and one worked on Alphabet recognition.

1st - learned lab rules, reviewed how desktops worked, started learning a drawing package called Pixie. Next week we will use the drawing package to come up with a math problem using stickers in the program.

2nd - learned lab rules, reviewed how desktops worked, started learning a drawing package called Pixie. Next week we will draw a self portrait with a weather background. Soon we will start working on a slideshow using pixie. *

3rd - learned lab rules, reviewed how desktops worked, worked on keyboarding skills, learning Word. Will be working on their country reports in the lab using Word in the next couple weeks. *

4th - learned lab rules, reviewed how desktops worked, worked on keyboarding skills, learning how to make Powerpoint slideshows. Will be making a slideshow about themselves in the next few weeks. *

5th - learned lab rules, reviewed how desktops worked, worked on keyboarding skills, reviewing Word. Will be working on their country reports in the lab using Word in the next couple weeks. *

* Had to learn how to log into the computers and keyboarding programs.
